About
Built by people who carried the pager.
We ran on-call for ten years. Relay is the console we wanted at 3 a.m.: the change at the center, the way back one click away, the right person woken up and nobody else.
Years on call

Median rollback

What we believe
Three rules, written after too many incidents.
Show what changed, not what is wrong.
A red graph is a symptom. The deploy, the config edit and the person behind it are the cause. Every screen in Relay starts from the change.
Back is always one click away.
The previous build stays warm. A rollback should take as long as a page refresh, and it should be recorded like any other change.
Alerts go to the person, with the runbook.
Not the channel, not the whole team. The one on call for that service, with the last three deploys attached, so nobody pages at 3 a.m. for nothing.
How we got here
From a side project to the console for 2,400 teams.
Team
The people behind the console.
Eleven of us, in Lisbon and Toronto. Support is answered by the people who built the thing.
